What's the latest?

What's the latest... something my Dad would say... and the common response as a kid would be "nothin'"...
Well, let's see, we finally had our first hike of 2008! We drove the scenic route to and from the visitor center at lock 38 in the CVNP. The scenic route being through the Cleveland Metroparks Mill Stream Run section where we passed one deer going out and spotted three on the way back. We stopped on the way back to capture the trio on "film"... somehow saying on memory card doesn't cut it... I found that apparently if you chatter at a deer in the way you may chatter to a pet hamster or perhaps a squirrel... and it's a young deer, it may walk toward you... I digress.
The Cuyahoga at lock 38 is actually dammed up and diverted so one can get fairly close to see the whole lock door etc. if one is careful... the barricade had been knocked over ;) It gives the impression that beavers have been very busy. Our hike was unfortunately cut short by rain but the terrain made for an intriguing one as it is not cleared like the CleMet and one can pick out all sorts of animal tracks. We stopped in the center and I found another map of the Buckeye Trail one depicting sights of different sections... We're hoping to do a section near an active beaver marsh among other things and can't wait for our colds and the rain to clear up to set out again!
We're also getting closer to the dream house... it seems to meet various approvals... and so the scary part begins!

Well, I thought you'd like to know I had MY first 2008 hike, too.
I walked down to the mailboxes today - of course I stopped for a couple of beers at a neighbors...
Thanks for opening up OpenID - I'm too old to remember all those user IDs and passwords...
