Colors of the rainbow...

Someone please tell us who decided that the trendy thing to do is
#1 paint 1 wall a different color than the other 3 walls...
and #2 paint in dark colors????
Does it really go back to the fashion industry?
This was mentioned in the movie "Devil Wears Prada" or not??? There is a rule of thumb that a designers office should be gray, usually a light gray because when looking at colors on a monitor your eyes will distort shades of colors if the room is painted another color...
This is something that we're curious about as it has come up recently in selecting paint for the house and Sue's newest office... the one that's under construction...
Certain family members have taught their kids that dark colors make the room look smaller, warm colors make the room feel warmer and cool colors.. well you get the jist!
There are also schools of thought that certain colors are engaging to children, young adults and adults... There are books written on the subject... Sue has one or two of them!
Regardless, who wishes to walk into a drab office everyday?!
Unless their career depends on their perception of colors... ie. all of A. G. is painted gray! There are colors that directly reflect/change your mood as well... red is perceived to be aggressive! Green calm and tranquil...
Should colors of a room reflect the person? Absolutely!
There will be two rooms in the house that will be stripped of their old wall paper and painted... One room will be a very light blue "Mountain Air", the other a light green, "Inverness"... these room are bedrooms, standard bungalow bedrooms... that don't need to look smaller than they are...
with nice tranquil cool colors... and outdoorsy names...
Which brings up another point... who comes up with the names????
Wouldn't you like that job? I do suppose some folks do pick paint by the name... not necessarily the color... I'd love to see their home and know the meaning behind the names they picked... or maybe not...
The one color of the one different wall in Sue's future office is named "Refuge"...
It is a deep deep blue... it is the same blue found in the Lake Erie Monsters logo...
Well maybe darker... the color that was picked for her was a drab gray blue...
this is a nicer color and the designer that picked the other doesn't have to look at is 5 days a week!
Ahhh "Refuge!" One of the guys got "Plum" picked for him!
