Recent Events...

Amongst the hustle and bustle of the work week and the work being done at home... we've managed to get out and do a few things that don't involve the word work!

We went out to the garden center in Avon, the newest Petitti's before our stumps were ground out to see what we'd like to replace the old evergreen bushes with... and with images in the wife's head of what the yard could potentially look like we came home with a Flat top Hydrangea, a weigelia and two white lytras... and out came the stringy yellow pansies...then the stumps were ground out and with the help of the family down the street... the mess was cleaned up with speed! The wife was eternally grateful for the help! Since she came home to the mess!

Then we went this past weekend to a small Slovak heritage festival with K & J... in Old Brooklyn... and were introduced to Zlaty Bazant... J got her first taste of this beverage and may never have it again. Only real Slovaks drink pivo before noon we were told. However lunch of Kielbasi, cabbage and noodles, and halusky was soon served up cafeteria style... Then there was the bakery! here were a few things new to our Slovak palette... like Begna which J proclaimed "really really good!" S continued her search for a slovak flag to hand outdoors... which led us to Novaks on Meyer & 25th... they were closed... so online she went... it arrived today! 3'5' red white and blue! It should go nicely with the numerous Irish ones in the neighborhood!

That evening we had a date night and went out to the movies... the last movie we saw in the theater was the last James Bond to give you an idea! Well as many would guess we saw.... Half Blood Prince... and it was good!

Then it was back to work... this weekend is the Lakewood arts festival and another Slovak fest at St. Sava! and we're torn between what we have to do and what we would like to do.... a friend told us tonight... the house has been there for 70+ years it'll keep... basically life is short! Get out there and enjoy!
