This past Sunday, Sept 20th was Ollie's 6th birthday! He spent it in the basement hiding from all the outdoor power tool noises and the vacuum. We spent the evening celebrating Joy's 9th birthday! This weekend Birthdays for Sue and Sarah! September is and was a busy month!
This brought up a good yet short discussion about birthdays, however. The reaction to the birthday ranges from good, bad to indifferent. The discussion was do pets realize it is their birthday? As newer adoptive parents to Ollie... and with all of the birthdays in September it was something that came up for discussion. I have since found web sites celebrating their pet birthdays. We've come to the conclusion that to them it is just another day and they quite literally just go about their business.
However it is fun to celebrate with a new toy or in our boy's case his own soft bed.
