There's just something about the holidays... if you're the host it takes a while to prepare... and then it takes you a while to recover... I think we've finally recovered from Easter!
We hope you all had a wonderful Easter Sunday and that you continue to enjoy the memories... This year may be St. Wendelins last Easter... it is still scheduled to close... but another letter from the Vatican came and it's still under recourse until June... so who knows!
This was the best year for Grandma Marge's kolachi dough recipe... and then the filling ooozed out... that was among our prep for Easter...
For Dad's 79th birthday Sue decided to try to make Nut Horns... apparently the other Grandma used to make them and he loved them... Unfortunately no recipe was passed down, so relying on the Internet she gave it a go...and well that's the first time something literally foamed in the oven!
On Holy Saturday we woke to a surprise in the yard... One of the Biggest Early Easter bunnies there ever was! Such a cute brown bunny, oddly enough we've not seen it since... could it have been the real Easter bunny?
Then there was the food prep for Easter... the nicest ham ever... there were many, many cameras at the blessing of the baskets... though not surprising...people came from near and far to get their baskets blessed... once again a lovely event...
We decided to attend the Easter Vigil Mass and although it started at 8:30pm and ended around 11 pm it was again amazing. Having only been to that mass once before when M converted... I was in awe... although the family was a little distracted by the falling candle on the altar (luckily not lit yet)and books falling from the choir loft...
This Mass allowed us to prepare the Easter meal at a relaxed pace... and enjoy the celebration as it should be enjoyed... with family... good food... and good fun...
