Thread count micro fiber flannel fleece??

We've recently purchased a new mattress... it's a little bigger than the last one sits a bit higher (which gives new meaning to the phrase climbing into bed) etc, etc... we discovered that our old mattress was, well, thinner... and thus the search for sheets began! We found a really nice set of affordable cotton sheets... nice reasonably priced...sheets! Recently as the weather gets colder and colder and having been under the practice of switching to flannel sheets we started shopping for those as well... Trying to get the right size fitted sheet has been interesting... it seems that most out there will fit the old bed not the new one! Then I went to Macys... and well of course they had the right size... you know for like $165.00 ish... thank you no I'll send Ollie in there first to warm up the sheets before getting in!

How many choices are there in buying sheets these days?? Are the pockets deep enough for the mattress'... Shouldn't this be a simpler matter?? Where did these standards come from?! Does anyone know??? This is one definition I found...

Defined: Thread count signifies the number of strands of yarn per inch for each direction of a woven fabric construction.
